Housekeeper / Domestic Cleaner Required

Location: Private Residence
Hours: 8
Rate of Pay: £15
Start Date: Immediately

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and trustworthy Housekeeper / Domestic Cleaner to assist in maintaining a private home occupied by two adults, one medium-sized dog, and one cat.

We require 8 hours per week, ideally split across two 4-hour visits on Tuesdays and Fridays (daytime).

The successful candidate will take pride in their work, have excellent attention to detail, and be capable of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organisation throughout the property.

Main DutiesGeneral Housekeeping & Cleaning

  • Dusting and polishing all surfaces
  • Vacuuming carpets, rugs and upholstery
  • Sweeping, mopping and cleaning hard floors
  • Cleaning skirting boards, doors and light switches
  • Cleaning internal glass and mirrors
  • Emptying bins and replacing liners
  • General tidying and organisation of living areas

Kitchen Cleaning

  • Cleaning worktops and splashbacks
  • Cleaning sinks and taps
  • Cleaning cupboard fronts and appliances externally
  • Cleaning microwave and other kitchen appliances
  • Maintaining cleanliness of dining areas
  • Floor cleaning and sanitising

Bathroom Cleaning

  • Cleaning and sanitising toilets
  • Cleaning baths, showers and shower screens
  • Cleaning sinks and taps
  • Cleaning mirrors
  • Replenishing toiletries where required
  • Mopping and sanitising floors

Bedroom & Linen Care

  • Changing bed linen weekly
  • Making beds
  • Dusting and vacuuming bedrooms
  • General tidying and organisation

Additional Household Tasks

  • Light pet-related cleaning as required (hair removal, keeping pet areas clean)
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or concerns
  • Ensuring household cleaning supplies are monitored and advising when replacements are required

Optional Additional Hours

In addition to the housekeeping hours currently being advertised, ironing duties may also be available for candidates who are willing and able to undertake them.

These additional ironing hours will be paid at the same hourly rate as the housekeeping role.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous domestic housekeeping or cleaning experience
  • Excellent references from current or previous employers
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable
  • High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Comfortable working in a home with a dog and cat
  • Good communication skills
  • Right to work in the UK

Pre-Requisites

  • Must have no criminal convictions
  • DBS check preferred
  • Must be honest, trustworthy and respectful of privacy and confidentiality within a private household
