We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Hockey Coaches to join our growing coaching team for the Spring Term 2027, with the potential for continued coaching opportunities in the Summer and Autumn Terms. As Bedford School continues its move towards co-education, we are developing our sporting provision to provide outstanding opportunities for both boys and girls, making this a particularly exciting time to join the team and play an important role in shaping the future of hockey at Bedford.

Whether you are an emerging or experienced coach, this is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an ambitious and successful hockey programme and to contribute to its continued development. Hockey is now played across two terms, providing increased opportunities for pupils to develop their skills, compete regularly and progress through the school’s performance and participation pathways.

The role offers coaching across our Prep and Senior Schools, with regular afternoon sessions from 1.30pm onwards. Sessions run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday until 5.30pm, and Tuesday and Thursday until 4.15pm, with opportunities to support Saturday fixtures from 12.30pm-4.00pm. Saturday availability is desirable.

You will deliver high-quality, engaging and enjoyable hockey sessions, helping pupils develop their technical skills, tactical understanding, confidence and love of the game. You will work alongside an experienced and supportive coaching team and contribute to a positive, inclusive and aspirational sporting culture across the school.

The role will also provide opportunities to support the continued growth of the hockey programme, including the development of girls’ hockey as Bedford moves towards a fully co-educational model. Coaches will have the opportunity to work with pupils of different ages and abilities, contribute to talent development and help establish a strong pathway from participation through to performance.
