Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

POSITION: Permanent

POST: Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

LOCATION: High Grange School (HGS), Hospital Lane, Mickleover, Derby.

SALARY: To be discussed at interview (equivalent to Specialist Speech and Language

Therapist)

REPORTS TO: Head of Therapy and Clinical Lead

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Therapy and Principal

High Grange School provides specialist education for autistic children and young people who present with social communication differences, demand avoidant profiles and emotional and mental health needs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with a minimum of 2 years, relevant experience to join our team in working with our young people to support them as they move towards life-long, meaningful independence.

The successful candidate will join a team of four Speech and Language Therapists who work as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapeutic Therapist, trained school crisis counsellor / pastoral lead, parent liaison officer, full time nurse and therapy assistants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a Speech and Language Therapy service across High Grange School under the supervision of the Head of Therapy and the Speech and Language Therapist Clinical Lead, with additional support from the schools Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Daily liaison with education staff will be required to promote and develop collaborative communication and social thinking approaches. The successful candidate will support the whole school ethos;

The successful candidate will:

  • Have HCPC registration
  • Hold a Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent, recognised by Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy)

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is keen to work within a holistic environment with those who present with complex communication needs associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

This role also has the added benefit of 10 weeks paid holiday in line with Derbyshire term dates.

There would be CPD opportunities in line with the school development plans and the successful candidate would positively contribute to an existing well established and supportive MDT team.
