Full job description

To work with the crisis service, providing crisis line input on a rostered basis as well as managing the early intervention of those patients in order to stabilise them effectively.

To work autonomously with a caseload of clients, treating them therapeutically for severe and enduring mental health issues, ADHD, addiction, anxiety and depression as well as trauma related issues.

Engage in supervision which will be provided and work within clinical guidelines safely, whilst maintaining excellent record keeping.

A creative individual who can offer a holistic approach to assessment and treatment, whilst working in partnership with those we support. Promoting independence and recovery at every opportunity you must be able to work remotely, flexibly, and be comfortable with change in an ever-evolving team.

Recognised management of crisis skills are demonstratable. Alongside effective communication with outside services.

Focused on offering a bespoke service to the people we support, combining clinically evidenced therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy as well as a prescribing service.
Working with people who are both physically and/or psychologically impacted by mental health issues or addiction. Working together with the patient to set goals through 1:1 therapies, using national guidance frameworks and when relevant manage the scripting process.

People who use our service

To proactively deliver a high quality/person centred service provision that meets the needs of the people who use our service by:-
▪ Promoting peoples’ rights and responsibilities
▪ Working as an effective member of the team
▪ Providing support and information to people who use our service, their families and friends and professionals regarding their support
▪ Developing, in consultation with people who use our service, flexible and realistic support packages/person centred plans within agreed guidelines or service models
▪ Ensuring that a collaborative approach is used, with effective communication links with external professional groups e.g. GPs, Social Services, etc. and to work as an effective member of any multi-disciplinary team
▪ Providing written reports to professionals and other organisations, such as, GPs, probation services, social care services, Court reports, MHA tribunals/Managers’ hearings and CPA reports
▪ Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements
▪ Undertaking responsibility for clinical risk and needs assessment and the formation and implementation of management plans

Own Development

To continuously review own performance and development needs to assist growth and development by:-
▪ Participating in meetings regularly with I. Straker and identifying development needs and setting objectives
▪ Agreeing own task and development objectives and reviewing these and overall performance against the competency framework.
▪ Participating in training and other development opportunities as agreed by I. Straker
▪ Maintaining registration with the governance structures set out by your specific discipline.
▪ To ensure knowledge base and application in respect of the Mental Health Act, DoLs and the Mental Capacity Act is current


To provide and support effective clinical interventions and services by:-

  • Participating in clinical supervision
  • Arranging for clients users to visit GP/hospital/other clinical professionals as required, in a timely manner, to meet their needs
  • Management of the Crisis Intervention service we offer

▪ Attending relevant internal and external meetings as requested including multi-agency meetings and Statutory Sector Services
▪ To support company strategies that we partner with
▪ To develop Groups, workshops and resources for clients and companies we provide our service to.

Empathy & Support

To provide empathy and support to people who use our service by:-
▪ Enabling people who use our service, through education and raising awareness, to manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing
▪ Ensuring effective care pathways are provided to each person that uses our service
▪ Recognising indicators of deteriorating mental health, acting appropriately and liaising with other members of the MDT
▪ Providing guidance to people who use our service and families of current legislation such as the Mental Health Act, DoLs and the Mental Capacity Act

Personal effectiveness

Indemnity insurance
▪ Current registration with a recognised governing body with evidence of continued professional development
▪ Proven track record of working within the Mental Health sector and management of crisis
▪ Demonstrable education and/or experience with trauma and PTSD
▪ Working knowledge and understanding of mental health issues and the ability to recognise the indicators of deteriorating mental health
▪ Working knowledge and understanding of current legislation, such as the Mental Health Act, DoLS and the Mental Capacity Act
▪ Understanding of the issues faced by people who use our service with mental health and/or dual diagnosis or personality disorder and the challenges they face
▪ Able to deliver a range of services/treatments/interventions in a person centred, non-judgemental manner
▪ Able to demonstrate flexibility and creativity with clients
▪ Experience in managing a caseload of people who use our service with complex needs


Therapeutic training – desirably CBT

EMDR Qualification

Experience working in a Mental Health Setting

Experience working with Neuro Diversity

Experience in working within women’s health

Experience of managing crisis

Technical effectiveness


▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor the message to the audience
▪ Collaborative team working skills
▪ Adaptable and able to work in a challenging and changeable environment
