Care Focus Ltd is a group of small Therapeutic Children's Homes in Suffolk and Essex. Established for 21 years with a respected reputation throughout the Childcare Sector.
We are looking for a Registered Manager to join our team and help us grow!
You will be joining an already established permanent staff team and a home that achieved "Good" in their education Ofsted inspection. We are looking to recruit an ambitious individual that has managerial experience in the sector that can lead the reopening of our Colchester based home.
We are highly staffed, a 1:1 provision. Staff are well supported by a line-management model and Managers have access to 2 Senior Managers and 3 Directors that hold vast experience in Residential childcare. This is a highly supportive leadership team that play an active role in the home.
Job Description:
The Registered Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Childrens Home and the Care Focus programme. We are a Holistic Service providing Care, Education and Therapy for children (10-17yrs) who cannot remain at home for a period of time. We are regulated by Ofsted.
This is a senior role and Ofsted requirements are that the Registered Manager should have at least 2 years in a supervisory role in the specialised field of Looked After Children. We will consider an experienced Deputy/Team Leader with the right background.
Professional Parenting needs emotionally strong characters - only people with experience in this sector need apply.
- You will already have Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent, and also have or be working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management, plus 2 years in a supervisory position (Team Leader or above).
- Manage the day to day running of a Registered Children's Home. Be familiar and confident with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, and other Legally binding requirements of this role.
- Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and timely for each child enrolled in the Care Focus programme.
- Ensure that all paperwork in the Home is completed accurately and timely, including admissions, parental consent forms, incident reporting, statutory obligations and requirements of Local Authorities, and other paperwork as necessary.
- Liaise with all professionals - Social Workers, Industry professionals: IRO, Teachers, Therapists etc and parents. You will also hold responsibility for the Health and Safety of the Home.
- Ensure that all programmes are running smoothly; ensure that all staff are working efficiently and effectively; ensure that all staff are aware of obligations and any issues or problems on site.
- Must be willing to adopt Care Focus philosophy on positive parenting. Ensure that all staff are following Care Focus Ltd policies and procedures, and Children's Homes Regulations.
- Play an active role in the emergency on call rota
- Be a positive role model to the staff team and children alike
- Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong knowledge of the residential childcare sector
- Be highly organized with strong time management skills
- Have excellent communication skills (written and oral),
- Be able to work independently with a high level of responsibility
- Be comfortable supervising a diverse group of children, some with challenging behaviours
- Be able to maintain a flexible schedule to share in 'emergency on-call' responsibilities with other senior colleagues, to include evenings and weekends
- Be able to work with minimal supervision
- Have excellent organisational skills
- Possess critical thinking skills
- Possess critical judgment
- Be a team player
- Exhibit flexibility, initiative, self-direction and energy
