Full job description

About Park Blue Homes:

At Park Blue Homes, we provide safe, nurturing homes for children and young people who have experienced trauma. Our care is therapeutic and trauma informed, and our care teams work hand in hand with our in-house therapy team so every child gets holistic support that helps them feel safe, settle and thrive. We believe that strong, relationship-based leadership makes the biggest difference to children’s outcomes, and we invest in our managers and staff to make that happen.

About the role: As Responsible Individual (RI), you will lead, support and challenge the three Registered Managers across our South Yorkshire homes. You will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the area and the senior link with Ofsted, making sure every home is safe, compliant and rated at least ‘Good’. This is a hands-on role. You will spend time in the homes, get to know each child placed with us, and make sure the therapeutic thread runs through everything we do – from care planning and paperwork to staff training and day-to-day practice.

What you’ll be doing:

Leading and supporting our homes by;

  • Supervising, supporting and managing three Registered Managers, improving the quality and efficiency of each home through mentoring, training, troubleshooting and better systems and paperwork
  • Working with Registered and Deputy Managers to monitor staff development and identify training needs
  • Making sure each home has the right staffing levels, resources, equipment and a well-trained team
  • Chairing management meetings and attend regular meetings, raising anything that affects the running of the homes, our teams or children’s progress

Lead on all Safeguarding and compliance for the area by;

  • Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the area, keeping children and staff safe from harm and abuse
  • Keeping every home compliant with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards and all relevant legislation, achieving at least ‘Good’ at Ofsted
  • Being present for Ofsted inspections and feedback, and building effective working relationships with each home’s inspector
  • Carrying out spot checks and audits of core paperwork to ensure consistent, high-quality care
  • Making sure health and safety checks and administration are completed within agreed timescales

Ensure all homes within your area are Therapeutic and provide child-centred care by;

  • Embedding the therapeutic thread in all areas of care, working with our therapy team to deliver holistic, trauma informed care
  • Being involved in care planning and in monitoring and evaluating outcomes for every child
  • Managing admissions, transitions and discharges smoothly and safely
  • Visiting the homes regularly, building meaningful relationships and an in-depth knowledge of each child

Improvement and problem solving

  • Make sure every home has a continuous improvement and development plan that is implemented, monitored and evaluated
  • Support managers with allegations, disciplinary matters and investigations, and lead them yourself when needed
  • Critically analyse incidents and respond with practical, evidence-based strategic action plans
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of staff training and keep developing your own knowledge and practice

What you’ll bring:

  • At least two years’ experience in residential children’s social care, ideally as a Responsible Individual or Dual Registered Manager
  • A consistent ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ track record with Ofsted
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • A thorough understanding of trauma, trauma informed care and therapeutic practice, including a working knowledge of PACE and what a therapeutic placement looks like for children
  • Confident knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and all legislation linked to running a registered children’s home
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a warm, nurturing approach
  • The confidence to challenge, guide and mentor others
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A clear enhanced DBS and positive references from all previous roles working with children or vulnerable adults

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary starting at £60,000 per annum
  • 35 days annual leave, which is inclusive of bank holidays
  • Company car and mileage allowance
  • Enhanced Pension Scheme
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Wellbeing support, including access to our staff wellbeing tools
  • A supportive, therapeutic organisation where your leadership truly shapes children’s lives

Pay: From £60,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
