This part-time self-employed role requires audio transcribing reports / letters for a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist using Olympus software (all equipment will be provided). The successful applicant will work from their own home; the transcriptions will be retrieved from your work email. Each report will pay a certain commission and you will be responsible for your own invoicing.
It’s a busy and fast-paced role and you will need to be a quick learner, but you will receive plenty of ongoing support from our small, friendly team and will be encouraged to contribute your ideas for developing the procedures with the aim of making it as streamlined as possible. We work together as a team, and all ideas are welcome! There will also be regular team meetings with admin staff members.
Completion of GDPR and governance training can be provided.
Necessary skills include:
Qualifications / vast experience with audio / touch typing
Flexible work / life balance - able to work at short notice on occasion as well as complete urgent reports
Accurate transcriptions / formatting / proof reading to ensure reports are correct
Excellent grammar and spelling
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, including paying close attention to formatting, use of hyperlinking, paragraphing, content pages, etc
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload with good time management skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality and be adaptable
Due to the nature of the work, an ability to work with sensitive subject matter
Non-judgemental attitude
An understanding of medical and psychiatric terminology is useful but not essential
An audio typing test will be carried out at interview.
