Children’s Residential Support Worker (Day Shifts - NO SLEEP IN's) – Wolverhampton

We are excited to recruit experienced Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our Ofsted registered residential care home. Our home supports children and young people aged 6–19 with mild to complex Learning Disabilities, offering a safe, nurturing and empowering environment.

Requirements – Children’s Residential Support Worker

We welcome candidates who can demonstrate professionalism, safeguarding awareness and a passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

Essential:

  • Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent CYPW qualification)
  • Previous experience in an Ofsted-registered children’s home
  • Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities, autism, communication needs, or behavioural challenges
  • Ability to work a 3 on / 3 off rolling rota (includes weekends & bank holidays) - Shift times are 7 am to 9 pm.
  • Strong understanding of Safeguarding, Children’s Rights, and Keeping Children Safe in Care
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for completing reports, logs and incident records
  • Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans
  • Ability to form safe, trusting and professional relationships with children
  • Good IT skills for daily record keeping
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards

What You’ll Do

As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, your role is central to the wellbeing, safety and development of the young people in our care.

You will:

  • Provide high-quality day-to-day care in line with individual care plans
  • Support children with daily routines such as personal care, hygiene, meals, morning/evening routines and household tasks
  • Promote and model independent living skills, communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Build positive, nurturing and safe relationships with each young person
  • Support children during community activities (swimming, cinema, outdoor sports, trips, holidays, etc.)
  • Encourage confidence, choice-making and participation in education, hobbies and community life
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records (daily logs, incident reports, medication records, risk assessments, keywork sessions)
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to safe care practices
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, Social Workers, schools and external professionals
  • Participate in keyworking, including goal-setting, monitoring progress and advocating for the young person
  • Contribute to household routines including cooking, cleaning and maintaining a safe environment
  • Work as part of a team to deliver consistent support and positive behaviour approaches

  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
  • Professional references from previous employers - in line with Schedule 2 compliance checks.
