Patient Transport Controller

Location: EN3 7XU

Salary: £15.80 per hour

Shift Pattern: 07:00 – 19:00, 4 on 4 off (includes weekdays, weekends and public holidays)

We are looking for a proactive and organised Patient Transport Controller to join our operations team based in Enfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who thrives in a busy operational environment.

About the Role:

Our Controllers are at the heart of the Patient Transport Service. You will coordinate daily patient transport activity, ensuring patients are collected and transported safely, efficiently and on time.

You will work closely with ambulance crews, NHS staff and management to plan journeys, respond to operational challenges and ensure excellent service delivery throughout each shift.

The role requires confidence in making decisions under pressure, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and dispatch crews efficiently throughout each shift.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure KPIs and performance targets are achieved.
  • Receive and process transport bookings accurately.
  • Maintain regular communication with crews, hospitals and healthcare clients.
  • Provide operational support to crews and assist with resolving on-the-day issues.
  • Ensure all patient journeys are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Escalate incidents, safeguarding concerns and operational issues promptly.
  • Record incidents accurately using internal reporting systems.
  • Monitor crew availability and identify any staffing or resource shortfalls.
  • Liaise with management regarding operational performance and service improvements.
  • Report vehicle defects, breakdowns or accidents immediately to the Fleet Manager.
  • Ensure vehicle and equipment checks are completed and recorded.
