Full job description

A Rare Opportunity in the Heart of the Dales

For over forty years, our family-run inn has been a haven for travellers, food lovers, and locals seeking genuine hospitality and memorable food. Nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, surrounded by the rolling beauty of the Howgill Fells, we’re proud to hold 5-star inn status and 2 AA Rosettes for our cooking — a reflection of our dedication to quality, warmth, and attention to detail.

We’re now looking for a Restaurant and Bar Manager to lead our small, passionate team and help guide the next chapter in our story.

About Us

With eight individually designed bedrooms and a 60-cover restaurant, our inn is known for relaxed luxury — the kind of place where guests arrive as visitors but leave as friends. We’ve built our reputation on consistency, care, and genuine hospitality, and we’re proud to have a loyal following who return year after year.

Our front-of-house team of four work closely with our talented kitchen brigade of four chefs and porters, creating an environment that feels more like family than workplace.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position that calls for a leader who loves the rhythm of country hospitality — someone equally at ease greeting guests at check-in as they are overseeing a busy dinner service or supporting their team behind the bar.

You’ll take ownership of day-to-day operations across the inn, ensuring smooth service, financial efficiency, and an atmosphere that reflects our values of warmth, quality, and authenticity.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, support, and inspire a close-knit team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

- Oversee all areas of the business: rooms, restaurant, and bar.

- Maintain and build upon our 5-star and 2 Rosette standards.

- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef to ensure excellence in food and service.

- Manage budgets, purchasing, and profitability.

- Act as the face of the inn — welcoming guests, handling feedback, and fostering lasting relationships.

About You

- Previous experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a quality-driven hospitality setting.

- Hands-on, approachable, and genuinely care about people — both guests and your team.

- Understand what makes small, independent hospitality special: attention to detail, warmth, and pride in every guest interaction.

- Strong organisational and financial awareness, with a keen eye for maintaining standards.

- Must have 2 Rosette management experience.

- Must have vast wine experience

Why Join Us?

This is more than just a management position — it’s a chance to become part of a long-established, family-run business with deep roots in the local community and a loyal following.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
