MUST have a Level 3 or higher Education and Training qualification and experience delivering Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food Service) or similar.

Salary: £38k - £40k depending on experience
Location: London (with travel across London delivery sites)
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: July/August 2026

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Hospitality & Catering Tutor to deliver the Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food Service) alongside employability and work readiness training.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning, delivering, assessing, and supporting learners undertaking hospitality and catering programmes. You will create engaging learning experiences that develop both vocational competence and employability skills.

The successful candidate will support learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them progress into employment within the hospitality, catering, food service, and customer service sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Deliver the Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food Service).
  • Deliver employability skills embedded within vocational delivery.
  • Deliver customer service, teamwork, communication, health & safety and workplace readiness sessions.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and learner resources.
  • Differentiate learning to meet individual learner needs.

Assessment & Quality Assurance

  • Assess learner portfolios and evidence in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and tracking documentation.
  • Support Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes.
  • Prepare learners for successful completion of qualifications.

Learner Support

  • Conduct initial assessments and individual learning plans.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and progression advice.
  • Monitor attendance, achievement and learner progress.
  • Support learners with progression into employment and further training.

Compliance

  • Ensure delivery meets funding and awarding organisation requirements.
  • Maintain safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and observations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Teaching qualification (AET, CET, DET, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering Hospitality and Catering qualifications.
  • Experience delivering employability and work-readiness programmes.
  • Understanding of portfolio-based assessment.
  • Knowledge of Highfield (HABC) qualification requirements.
  • Occupational experience within hospitality, catering, food service, restaurants, hotels, events or customer service sectors.
  • Strong digital skills and ability to use Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable

  • Assessor qualification (CAVA/A1/D32-D33).
  • IQA qualification.
  • Experience working on GLA, AEB or funded training programmes.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards.
  • Experience working with unemployed adults and young people.

Duties

  • Deliver engaging lessons in hospitality and catering subjects, including food preparation, service, and health & safety standards
  • Develop and adapt training materials to suit different learning styles and levels
  • Assess student progress through assignments, practical demonstrations, and examinations
  • Provide constructive feedback to support learners’ improvement and confidence
  • Organise practical sessions, ensuring all equipment and resources are prepared beforehand
  • Monitor attendance and maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and share best practices
  • Support students in developing essential skills such as communication, organisation, and industry-specific knowledge

Skills

  • Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in teaching or training within the hospitality or catering sectors
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons effectively and manage multiple priorities
  • Good IT skills for creating digital learning materials and maintaining records
  • Knowledge of plumbing or other technical trades is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate students and foster a positive learning environment
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs
