Location: Beden, Sampford Spiney (near Tavistock)

Hours: 20 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours when required

Working Pattern: Typically Monday - Friday, 4 hours per day (mornings)

Salary: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour

Overview

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Housekeeper to help maintain and support a busy family home and wider estate environment at Beden.

This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative team, centred around keeping the main house and guest spaces clean, organised, and welcoming. While your primary focus will be housekeeping within the family home, you’ll also occasionally support across other areas of the estate, including guest accommodation, office spaces, communal facilities, and Tiny Wilds – our outdoor education setting.

Most work takes place in the mornings before the day fully begins for the family and wider team, so punctuality, consistency, and pride in your work are essential.

About Beden

Beden is a 220-acre estate on the edge of Dartmoor, bringing together conservation-led land management, outdoor education through Tiny Wilds, residential living, and creative enterprise.

Owned and run by Leo and Lily, the estate is both a family home and a working environment shaped by a commitment to caring for the land thoughtfully and creating something meaningful for future generations.

The estate includes a busy family home with two young children, guest accommodation, educational spaces, offices, and a wider community of people living and working across the site. It’s a dynamic and welcoming environment where no two days look exactly the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the main house to a consistently high standard
  • Cleaning and preparing guest accommodation, including bed changes and arrival set-up
  • Managing laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and organising linen and towels
  • Supporting the upkeep of communal estate facilities and shared spaces
  • Assisting with occasional cleaning and resetting of Tiny Wilds and office spaces
  • Monitoring stock levels of cleaning and household supplies and flagging shortages
  • Supporting periodic deep cleans across the estate
  • Helping with light practical tasks, organisation, and occasional small projects
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Beden team to ensure spaces are welcoming and ready for use

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous housekeeping or similar experience
  • Takes genuine pride in maintaining high standards
  • Has excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Is proactive and comfortable working independently
  • Is friendly, positive, and enjoys being part of a small team
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Is highly reliable and punctual
  • Feels comfortable working in a busy family home environment
  • Is flexible and willing to support where needed
  • Brings discretion, professionalism, and respect to their work

Essential Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping experience (or similar)
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent English
  • Full UK driving licence

Additional Information

This role requires some flexibility for additional hours during busier periods, including guest stays, holidays, events, and seasonal changes.

You’ll work across multiple areas of the estate and become part of a close-knit team where collaboration, reliability, and a positive attitude make a real difference.

If you enjoy creating calm, organised spaces and want to be part of a unique estate environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
