Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a part time Breakfast and Prep Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast for up to 60 guests, baking scones and sweet items and assisting with food preparation for functions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality are maintained at all times.

This hours for this role will be 2 breakfast shifts per week (6am-12/2pm) and 1 or 2 additional shifts (9-5) to assist with function prep and provide baked goods. Availability for holiday cover would also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfast dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Prepare and bake scones, cakes and traybakes according to hotel specification.
  • Assist with general food preparation for booked events, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients
  • Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and work surfaces
  • Support the team during busy periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Follow portion control guidelines to minimise waste and optimise efficiency
  • Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages or expiry dates

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or catering environment
  • Pastry skills including scones, cakes and traybakes.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure consistent quality in meal presentation and preparation
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Previous experience in meal preparation, especially breakfast dishes, is desirable but not essential
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, or shifts as required by the service schedule

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
