Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our busy hospitality team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting the culinary team to deliver excellent service. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic restaurant or hotel setting, with a focus on food preparation, cleaning, and assisting with basic kitchen duties. The Kitchen Porter will be responsible for ensuring the kitchen remains hygienic, well-stocked, and operational at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to high standards
  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or kitchen staff
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas within the kitchen
  • Supporting the organisation of stock and ensuring supplies are stored correctly
  • Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times
  • Supporting the culinary team during busy periods by providing general assistance as needed
  • Helping to set up and clear down workstations before and after service shifts

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards and safety procedures is advantageous
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and kitchen operations
  • Reliable with a positive attitude and good teamwork skills
  • Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy items when required
