About Us

The Sloop Inn is one of Cornwall's most iconic harbour-front pubs, located in the heart of St Ives. We pride ourselves on serving quality food and delivering exceptional customer experiences in a busy, welcoming environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Commis Chef to join our kitchen team for the busy season. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced professional kitchen. While the position is initially seasonal, there may be an opportunity for a permanent role for the right candidate, subject to business needs and future vacancies within the team.

The Role

As a Commis Chef, you will support our senior chefs with food preparation, service, and maintaining high kitchen standards. You will gain valuable experience working within a professional team and play an important part in delivering high-quality dishes to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with food preparation and basic cooking duties.
  • Supporting the team during busy service periods.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
  • Ensuring food is prepared and presented to company standards.
  • Following all health and safety procedures.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider kitchen team.

  • Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.
