Full job description

Food & Beverage Supervisor/Duty Manager: The White Hart Hotel – Dartmoor

Looking for a passionate and reliable Supervisor, or Duty Manager, able to lead the restaurant and bar through day-evening service with support from Duty Management.

There's room for progression with a clearly laid path of how to get to the next steps.

We've spent the last two years growing the business and are just through our third summer of open, with well laid processes and culture in place. The finessing has begun, and we're looking for team additions who are excited to have an input, from our service through to our TikTok.

We value passion, and encourage specialisation and niches. If there's anything you have wanted to learn for your career in hospitality, we offer training.

Staff Accommodation Available

Our Culture

We value professionalism, clarity, and shared responsibility.

We're building a team who gain satisfaction from contributing to the building blocks of a business; who enjoy improving cocktail recipes and enjoy creating social media content and who when they see a better way to do something they feel confident discussing it with the team.

We believe that small improvements every day, guided by the people who do the job, is how we all win.

The Role

  • Deliver service with a natural, instinctive pace.
  • Maintain strong awareness of guests while keeping the team organised
  • Provide training to ensure adherence to our procedures
  • Have an input into the finessing and extras
  • Complete end-of-day procedures
  • Cash up tills securely and confidently
  • Delegate effectively to ensure all side work is completed throughout the day
  • Lock and secure the premises
  • Manage start and finish times responsibly to meet the needs of the business
  • Work independently when required, maintaining professionalism throughout

This role requires someone comfortable balancing guest service and operational standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong bar and restaurant experience (essential)
  • Reception or check-in experience beneficial but not required
  • A good instinct for service pace and flow
  • Attentive to side work and presentation standards
  • Reliable, punctual, and organised
  • Comfortable working independently when required
  • Able to make sensible decisions without unnecessary escalation

Experience as a key holder is beneficial but not essential — full training will be provided.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Staff meals on shift when taking a break for over 6 hours work.
  • 20% off food & drink (50% on shift)
  • Clear procedures and training
  • A supportive, well-run working environment
  • A trusted role with genuine responsibility and room for progression
  • A chance for ownership of specialisations and acknowledgement of contributions

If you’re dependable, standards-led, and confident in late service environments, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and summary of your experience and availability.
