Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic food service environment, ideal for an individual with an interest in catering, cooking, and food preparation. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting with meal preparation.

Duties

  • Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
  • Support the cook during events and daily service periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Help with food safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
  • Serve food to Residents as required, ensuring a friendly and professional approach
  • Assist with washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients for cooking
  • To prepare food for tea with the guidance of the cook.
  • Support the team in maintaining stock levels and notifying supervisors of supplies needed
  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or food preparation is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Basic cooking skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques
  • Experience working in a kitchen environment or supporting culinary operations is advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
  • Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends.
