Full job description

The Role:

Canford Law has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Litigation Executive to join our growing Housing Law department, situated in our Manchester office.

Main responsibilities:

· Manage an active case load of Housing Conditions claims with support from a paralegal and the Head of department, representing tenants in social housing / local authority properties, and the Private Rental Sector.

· Provide high levels of service all existing and prospective clients.

· Organise, review, prepare, and draft documents for clients, experts, witnesses, Barristers and Court.

· Liaise with clients, experts, third parties, service providers, witnesses, Barristers and the Court where appropriate.

· Maintain accurate time costing procedures.

· Maintain the case management system, including the inputting of MI / data.

· To assist with ad-hoc enquiries / investigations as and when they arise.

· Ensure financial administration is processed in a timely and compliant manner.

· To understand and ensure compliance with existing Service Level Agreements

· To maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant areas of the law, including the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims, relevant regulations and case law.

· To report directly to the Head of Department.

The ideal candidate must be pro-active and motivated to succeed. They must possess excellent client care skills and be capable of working independently at pace, without compromise on the service to clients. The candidate must be organised and have excellent attention to detail, together with high levels of written and verbal communication skills.

Experience and understanding of the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims in England, together with an understanding of Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 is essential.

Previous experience in personal injury claims and/or landlord and tenancy possession claims is desirable but not essential.
