Full job description

Hours: 22.5 per week
Salary: £17,028
Contract: Part time/Permanent

Are you highly organised, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and passionate about keeping operations running smoothly? We’re looking for a dedicated Port Operations Assistant to join our team at Loch Ryan Port — someone who enjoys bringing structure, efficiency, and clarity to a busy operational setting.

If you’re ready to play a key role in ensuring the seamless flow of people, goods, and information across our port operation, we’d love to hear from you.

Some of your key responsibilities

  • Manage passenger claims for Irish Sea North routes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Port Manager and wider Operations team.
  • Maintain and update operational records on cargo handling, performance, and resource management.
  • Assist with workforce planning and resource allocation to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitor and update operational systems such as rePORT, Asset HQ, Quinyx, and Prosapien.
  • Coordinate purchases for Port Operations and liaise with Finance regarding payments.
  • Handle procurement and supply orders for the Loch Ryan Port Operations team.
  • Maintain supplier, contractor, and workshop records, resolving queries as needed.
  • Act as a key point of contact between port teams, duty managers, and stakeholders.
  • Support meetings, training sessions, and operational updates with essential administrative tasks.

What you will experience

At Loch Ryan Port, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive operational team that works closely together to keep our port running efficiently every day. You’ll experience a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, and where collaboration, communication, and teamwork play a huge part in our success. You’ll be involved in a range of activities that help our teams stay informed, connected, and supported. At Stena Line, we care about our people — you’ll be part of a workplace that values openness, reliability, and a genuine commitment to looking after one another.

Benefits

As a Stena Line employee, you’ll have access to a range of benefits, including:

  • Concessionary travel on Irish Sea/North Sea routes
  • 75% discount on UK Rail travel
  • Company pension & life assurance
  • Discounts on gym memberships, digital fitness, and equipment
  • Wellbeing cash plan (dental, eye tests, health screening, etc.)
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Ongoing training, coaching, and career development

Who you are

At Stena Line your personality matters as much as how good you are at what you do. You’re someone who enjoys bringing order to busy workstreams and can juggle multiple tasks without losing sight of the details. You communicate clearly, work well with others, and take pride in being reliable and approachable. Your ability to stay calm, prioritise, and problem-solve makes you a great fit for an operational environment where things can change quickly. Our behaviours — welcoming, caring, and reliable — guide you in your everyday work.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of operational, workforce planning, or reporting systems (e.g. rePORT, Quinyx, Asset HQ, Prosapien) is an advantage.
  • Some experience in an administrative or operations support role.
  • Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
