As a proudly employee-owned business, we benefit our clients, our communities, and each other, investing in creating the right space for everyone to feel empowered, included, and valued. Whatever your ambition, Mott MacDonald is where people come to be brilliant.
About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle, from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of the role
The Nuclear, Defence and Civil division within our Energy Unit is looking for a Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging, cutting-edge projects, supporting both local clients and the wider UK nuclear team.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping how Human Factors is embedded across our projects, working collaboratively with a range of disciplines in a highly regulated environment, with opportunities to develop skills in new areas across the division. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering Human Factors support across a range of projects within the Nuclear, Defence and Civil Division of Mott MacDonald
- Acting as a point of contact for Human Factors professionals, providing guidance on internal processes as well as context on HF activities and client requirements
- Advising other disciplines on the application of HF tools and techniques across nuclear, defence and civil projects
- Identifying new opportunities and supporting bid activities, including within nuclear defence
- Supporting cross-discipline collaboration to ensure HF is effectively embedded into the division’s processes
- Supporting the development and implementation of new HF processes across the business
Candidate specification
What we’re looking for:
- Level 6 or above qualification in a Human Factors–related subject
- Experience supporting projects within a high-hazard industry
- Cross-discipline experience
- A proven track record of leading the delivery of HF-related activities
What would make you stand out:
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors and Ergonomics (C.Erg.HF)
- Experience supporting or facilitating bid processes
- Confidence in delegating Human Factors (HF) related tasks
- Strong capability in supporting engineering design and safety evaluations within the nuclear sector
- An innovative approach to applying modern HF tools and methodologies
- Experience managing projects within nuclear defence
If this sounds like the right next step for you, we’d love to explore how your experience and ambitions align with our team.
Please be advised that offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
