Job Title: Air Conditioning Installation Engineer (Trainee / Improver)
Location: Buckinghamshire & Hertfordshire (On the Road)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £27,000 – £33,000 per year (DOE) + Overtime + Bonus + Benefits

About the Role
Multi Trades Recruitment is seeking a motivated Trainee / Improver Air Conditioning & Ventilation Engineer on behalf of a well-established HVAC specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career looking to develop hands-on experience and progress within the HVAC industry.

You will support experienced engineers across London/Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, assisting with installations, maintenance, and servicing while working towards further qualifications and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with the installation, commissioning, and handover of air conditioning and ventilation systems (including split systems, VRF, AHUs, FCUs)
  • Support planned maintenance and servicing tasks such as filter changes, airflow checks, condensate systems, refrigerant checks, and basic electrical work
  • Help diagnose faults and assist in repairs under supervision
  • Accurately complete job reports, service documentation, and site records
  • Follow all health & safety procedures including RAMS, PPE, and site compliance
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle stock; report shortages or issues
  • Support compliance with industry regulations (F-Gas, COSHH, etc.)
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams, escalating issues where required

Requirements

  • Basic HVAC qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) or relevant hands-on experience
  • Experience assisting with air conditioning installation or maintenance
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Positive attitude with willingness to learn and progress

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • F-Gas certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, or controls
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Willingness to undergo DBS/background checks where required
