About the role and the Team:

At Hyperoptic our people are central to everything we do. We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Employee Relations Manager to lead on complex ER casework, support organisational change, and help ensure we continue to build a fair, high-performing and respectful workplace culture. This is an opportunity to work across the business, partnering with managers, HR Business Partners, Directors and the Executive team to deliver practical, balanced and legally compliant people solutions.

You will manage the end-to-end employee relations casework for Hyperoptic ensuring that we act in the right way, both managing your own mid-to-complex cases and ensuring that we are managing risk appropriately. You will also be responsible for supporting organisational change, where we aim to treat people with respect and deliver the right outcomes for the business. You'll be able to tailor your approach working with both individual line managers and providing advice to our Managers and Executive team as needed with support from more senior colleagues as necessary.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing complex employee relations cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters
  • Providing expert advice and coaching to managers and HR Business Partners to ensure fair, consistent and commercially focused outcomes
  • Leading and supporting organisational change activity, including restructures, redundancy consultations, and senior exits
  • Identifying and managing employee relations risk, escalating where appropriate and recommending pragmatic solutions
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies in line with employment legislation and best practice
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders
  • Managing relationships with external legal counsel where required
  • Leading or contributing to key ER and people-related projects
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of ER processes, documentation and ways of working

What we are looking for?:

  • Degree qualified and/or CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above preferred)
  • Significant experience managing complex ER casework within a fast-paced, multi-site organisation
  • Strong experience supporting organisational change, including redundancy and consultation processes
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Proven ability to influence and coach managers at all levels, including senior stakeholders
  • Strong policy drafting and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident managing sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgement
  • Able to balance employee experience with commercial priorities
  • Proactive, resilient and comfortable taking ownership to drive cases through to resolution
