Are you seeking autonomy in your next Registered Manager position, with the ability to put your own ideas into practice? Are you looking for a company with the right ethos and values?

Based in Slough this 4 bedroom Residential home for children offers the young people a nurturing and therapeutic environment to live. Close to local amenities of the town but also within easy reach of beautiful countryside, activities play a key part of the children’s day to day.

As a Children’s Registered Manager you will be supported by highly experienced Responsible Individual and Senior Manager with a wealth of experience in children’s residential homes to support your introduction into the company and ongoing progression through your role. Additionally, a therapeutic team will be available to support the young people to develop skills to manage their emotions and come to terms with their experiences.

This is the second home of a company specifically tailored to support children and young people with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties using a Therapeutic approach. Utilising the Dan Hughes, PACE and DDP models among others. As a minimum each child will be supported with a weekly session with our on site Therapist who will work in partnership with yourself and key workers to support the young people consistently across the service. Our aim is for the young people to have a safe, caring and compassionate environment from all angles. The on site therapist offers bespoke packages to children including CBT, Psychodynamic, REBT, Transactional analysis, person centred talking therapy, EMDR and Hypnotherapy.

The ideal candidate will have experience of fit-for-purpose interviews and experience holding an OFSTED registration. As a Children’s Registered Manager, you will be expected to provide outstanding care for children and young people within a residential home. You will be required to have knowledge and experience of: Children's Act, OFSTED regulations, Staff management, compliance and safeguarding, Reg 44s and OFSTED inspections, Therapeutic practice. The ideal candidate will know how to engage in the referral and matching process, liaising with all parties involved.

Salary £45,000-£50,000

Responsibilities of a Children’s Registered Manager:

  • Overseeing the day to day responsibilities of running a children’s EBD for example:
  • Create a nurturing and homely environment for the children to feel safe and secure, supported and understood
  • Supporting the introduction, onboarding and training of new staff
  • Ongoing development of staff within the home to progress within
  • Taking responsibility for the referral and matching processes
  • Taking on the registration of the home
  • Supporting a reflective environment where staff are able to opening discuss what's going well and what could be improved to create a better environment for the children
  • Taking a lead on Ofsted visits, reg 44 visits and reg 45 reports
  • Liaising with internal and external professionals
  • Fostering a good relationship with social workers and family of the children
  • Have an excellent understanding and knowledge of safeguarding processes and policies
  • Sharing the on call responsibilities between yourself and the DM
  • Keeping a record of support and focusing on positive outcomes for the children
  • Working in a team and delegation of tasks to upskill and create a strong, successful team

Requirements of a Children’s Registered Manager:

  • Must have at least 2 years experience within the last 5 working in a residential childcare environment
  • Must have experience with EBD and ACEs
  • Must be a driver living within a reasonable distance to the home
  • Must have experience to meet in line with Ofsted requirements
  • Ideally hold or be working towards a Level 5 in Leadership & Management
  • Ideally have held an Ofsted registration as a registered manager previously
  • Ideally experience of fit-for-purpose interviews and holding a registration
  • Ideally hold a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification
