The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) is a not-for-profit, professional association for counsellors and psychotherapists, with several thousand members in the UK. The Society exists to support counsellors and psychotherapists, promote talking therapy and ensure that registered counsellors are safe, competent and ethical. We also have a sister society, the National Hypnotherapy Society (HS), which is looked after by the same team and focuses on hypnotherapists and hypnotherapy.

The Societies are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Training Services and Professional Standards team. The Training Services and Professional Standards team supports both Societies. You will be part of a hard-working, friendly and supportive team.

Training Services and Professional Standards Support Officer

Job Description

Reporting To: Head of Training Services and Professional Standards

Type: Part-time/ Office hours

Location: Worthing, West Sussex

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assessment Officer to join our Training Services and Professional Standards Department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and maintain high standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assessing and signing off new training course applications to confirm recognition suitability (at Levels 2, 3 and 4 and equivalent to such)

· Assessing course renewals to confirm ongoing suitability for awarded recognition

· Liaising with potential training course providers to build solid working relationship and encourage/manage new applications – includes offering support and advice with regards to training provision.

· Liaising with existing course providers to enhance solid working relationship and support on all aspects of training provision and encourage/manage ongoing and new applications

· Conduct onsite assessment meetings with prospective training providers as part of the assessment process.

· Support the engagement with students and encourage individual membership applications to the Society

· Provide support for Society strategic projects

· Attending meetings and events to represent the department / Society

· Provide support to Society departments where input from a qualified counsellor is required

· Provide other ad hoc support for the department as and when necessary

Requirements

Essential

· Qualified counsellor / psychotherapist

· Broad experience of practitioner training (CPD, post graduate training etc)

· Able to assess training courses against set criteria

· Able to assess and respond to ethical queries

· Able to build strong professional relationships with both Society staff and external training providers

· Exceptional attention to detail

· Self-motivated

· Able to work in fast paced environment

· Flexible approach

· Able to travel within the UK

· Able to work from the HQ in Worthing

Desirable

· Training course assessor/tutor

· In practice

· Knowledge of SCoPEd framework

· Knowledge / understanding of various counselling modalities
