Desktop Support Analyst

G&A Barnie Group Ltd are recruiting for a team player to provide first and second-line technical support across all company IT areas. You will join a small and dynamic team that moves quickly and deals with a wide range of daily issues and challenges.

Dealing with a mixture of calls, emails and in person contact, you will enjoy resolving IT issues and providing excellent levels of IT support.

Having a proactive and highly organised approach, you will need the ability to prioritise workloads and adapt to change. A friendly and personable manner when dealing with your fellow colleagues is paramount. Playing an important part in the IT team, you will assist in supporting our employees, by helping to ensure our systems run smoothly and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line technical support across all IT areas.
  • Build, deploy and configure laptops for new/existing employees.
  • Upgrade hardware and peripherals as required.
  • Procure IT equipment and software licenses where required.
  • Act as a key point of contact for technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Follow and adhere to processes and procedures whilst checking and advising where things can be improved upon.
  • Communicate effectively with other IT team members, providing regular updates.

Key Areas of Technical Support

  • In-House and 3rd Party Programs
  • Operating Systems - Windows Pro, Windows Server, Android
  • Microsoft 365 Services - Entra, Intune, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint etc
  • Microsoft Office 365 Product Suite - Outlook, Excel, Word etc

  • Active Directory - Managing Users, Computers, Groups and OU structures
  • Group policy management
  • PowerShell
  • Knowledge of networking and cyber security
  • Cyber Essentials Certification

This role is ideal if you have interests across a range of IT topics and minimum 3 years of experience in an IT Support role.

Being able to understand the user’s needs, manage issues to resolution and escalate where necessary are necessary for this role. Additionally, strong trouble shooting skills and the ability to learn quickly will be essential. Full support and training will be provided to ensure that you are able contribute effectively as quickly as possible.

For the correct candidate, opportunities to further develop skills in simple programming or scripting tasks will be provided.

The business works across multiple sites, so a full driver's licence is desirable and a willingness to work flexibly in line with our business needs. That said, there is limited scope for out of hours work in this role.
