Job Title: IT Officer
Job Type: Full Time 40 hours per week
Department: IT
Reports To: Company Directors
Location: On-Site (not remote)

Job Overview

Boran Mopack Ltd is expanding its IT team in response to growing operational demands and is recruiting an additional IT Officer. We are seeking a versatile and proactive professional to support daily IT operations and contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, and optimisation of our Management Information System/Enterprise Resource Planning (MIS/ERP) platforms.

This role blends end‑user support, system administration, IT infrastructure management, and application development to ensure the efficient running of IT systems and the continuous improvement of business processes.

It is an excellent opportunity for a committed and highly motivated individual to join a leading flexible packaging manufacturer based in Strabane, County Tyrone.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily IT Support & Maintenance

  • Provide first-line support for hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT incidents and service requests promptly.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory (hardware and software).
  • Perform regular system health checks, backups, and updates.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, printers, scanners, and other IT devices on the production floor and administration
  • Ensure antivirus and security patches are up to date.

2. MIS/ERP Development & Maintenance

  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and deployment of custom modules or enhancements in the existing MIS/ERP system.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and real-time analytics to support production monitoring and decision-making.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application-level issues.
  • Maintain documentation related to system architecture, configurations, and custom developments.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot ERP-related issues in coordination with external vendors.
  • Provide user training and support for MIS/ERP tools.
  • Document system workflows, user guides, and technical manuals.

3. IT Infrastructure, Network Administration & Cyber Security

  • Administer databases used by the MIS/ERP (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Ensure data integrity and perform regular audits of system logs and usage.
  • Maintain and support the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, Microsoft 365 and cloud services.
  • Administer Active Directory, user accounts, network services, firewalls, VPNs and remote access.
  • Implement and maintain cyber security measures, including MFA, endpoint protection, patching, backups, disaster recovery and auditing.
  • Monitor system performance, security and availability, responding to incidents and ensuring business continuity.
  • Liaise with external IT providers and software vendors to support infrastructure and security.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Educated in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support and/or software development (ERP/MIS preferred).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in IT support and troubleshooting (Windows, networks, printers, etc.).
  • Experience in ERP/MIS platforms
  • SQL database knowledge and experience with report generation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a dynamic environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with a customer-focused mindset.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support and/or software development (ERP/MIS preferred).
  • Strong time management skills.
