Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 (dependent on experience)

Contract: FTE 40 hours per week

Length: Permanent

Line Manager: Head of IT Services

We are seeking an IT Technician to support the IT Services departments in schools in the North West area.

The role forms part of the Tel Group IT support team and reports into Tel Groups Head of IT Services.

As part of the team, role holders will be responsible for the monitoring and resolution of IT related issues and queries.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in providing a high level of user support utilising an IT service desk based on ITIL principles.

The post holder will be based at a school in Blackpool but some travel to other sites may be required.

Specific Responsibilities

· Support the provision of an efficient IT support service to school IT users to include 1st and 2nd line desktop, network, and server infrastructure support.

· Contribute to and maintain a process of IT incident call handling and escalation.

· Assist with change management implementation.

· Assist with the maintenance and support of all the school’s IT systems and infrastructure when required.

· Support management and the Head of IT Services in project implementation as well as the implementation and maintenance of company IT standards and best practice.

· Learn new technologies as appropriate.

· The role may require occasional out-of-hours working.

· Any other duties may be required.

· Broad experience of Network Computing and IT support including:

· Computer, server and printer installation, configuration and basic hardware maintenance.

· Helpdesk experience and comfortable supporting a range of IT users.

· A background in supporting Local Area Networks, cabling and network hardware

· Comfortable supporting the range of Microsoft applications and operating systems

· Good written and oral communication skills

· Proven organizational skills

· Ability to manage own workload effectively.

· Excellent ICT skills including use of spreadsheet, database and word processing.

· Ability to work as part of a team

· Self-motivated and drive to complete tasks to the required time scales and quality standards. Willingness to work outside of normal working hours on occasion.

· Flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands.

· Personal commitment to the school’s professional standards and code of conduct.

· A commitment to further training and a willingness to participate in relevant CPD.

· A positive approach to challenges, which seeks solutions to problems and addresses difficulties with cheerfulness and good humour.

· Flexible to travel to and work from other BFET locations-driving license and access to a vehicle.

· A total commitment to issues of confidentiality.

· Commitment to demonstrate a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

· Willingness to consent to apply for an enhanced disclosure DBS check.

Desirable Experience

· Microsoft or Cisco certification.

· Experience of virtualised environments. Familiar with O365 cloud based suite of applications.

· Experience supporting multimedia.

· Experience in working in a school environment.

· Knowledge and awareness of the regulatory framework around education.

· Knowledge of SIMS or similar.
