Full job description

About Us

GoBoat is a fast-growing company with a simple mission: to get more people on the UK's waterways in a sustainable way. We offer self-drive electric boat rentals across London, and our trips are perfect for families, friends, couples, and groups. Our boats are fully electric, so customers can enjoy a day on the water with zero emissions.

The Role

We're looking for Technical Experience (TX) Crew to join our Paddington team. This role sits at the crossroads of customer service, sales, and technical boat operations. You'll be one of the people our team relies on to keep things running smoothly on the water.

Your day will be a mix of delivering bookings, helping customers get out safely, driving sales on site, and keeping the fleet in good working order. When things go wrong on the water, you'll be the one attending breakdowns and getting customers back on track. Between busy spells, you'll carry out maintenance checks, minor repairs, and help keep the boats in great condition.

Sales are a real focus in this role. We want someone who's comfortable upselling, spotting opportunities to extend bookings, and making sure every customer leaves wanting to come back.

This is a zero-hours contract, so it suits people looking for either part-time or full-time work. Hours vary with the seasons, with the busiest period running from spring through to autumn. For high-performing candidates, this can be extended to the offer of work through the winter period.

What You'll Do

  • Help deliver bookings and provide clear safety and navigation briefings to customers before they head out
  • Drive sales on site by upselling add-ons, encouraging longer bookings, and making sure the boats are as fully utilised as possible
  • Attend breakdowns and on-water incidents, resolving issues quickly and calmly
  • Carry out routine maintenance checks on boats and electric engines, flagging and fixing issues before they become problems
  • Perform cleaning, cosmetic upkeep, and minor repairs to keep the fleet looking and running its best
  • Monitor boat locations and conditions throughout the day
  • Deliver excellent customer service at every touchpoint, from arrival to departure
  • Work closely with the rest of the crew and management team to keep the site running efficiently

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 or equivalent International Certificate of Competence (ICC)
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing or operational role
  • A genuine sales mindset, with a track record of hitting targets or proactively driving revenue
  • Confident communicating with customers and colleagues alike
  • Happy working independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift throughout the day
  • Flexible with hours, including weekends and bank holidays
  • A real interest in boats, being on the water, and keeping things in good working order
  • Comfortable with technology (booking systems, apps, basic admin)
  • Willing to complete a medical assessment to confirm fitness for on-water duties

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in boat hire, watersports, marine maintenance, or outdoor leisure
  • A VHF operators licence and/or valid First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Work for Us?

  • Competitive pay plus commission: We pay £13.85/hour, and you can boost your earnings through our sales-based commission scheme.
  • A team that has your back: We're a close-knit crew who look out for each other. Regular staff socials and end of year holiday help keep things fun and build real camaraderie.
  • Grow your skills: You'll get practical, hands-on training led by an RYA-approved instructor. We invest in developing our people, and there are opportunities to take on more responsibility as the company grows.
  • Work outdoors: Swap the office for the canal. Our Paddington site is one of London's best spots to spend a working day, right on the water in the heart of the city.
  • Make a real impact: We're committed to sustainability and getting more people enjoying the water. Your work here genuinely matters.
