Finance Manager (Part-Time)

Ciel Hotels – Askham, Penrith (CA10 2PF)
Permanent | 4–5 days per week

Ciel Hotels is a distinctive, family-run hospitality group located in the heart of the stunning Lake District. Our portfolio brings together a collection of exceptional venues:

  • The iconic Sharrow Bay, Country House Hotel on Ullswater– currently undergoing a major refurbishment project.

We are proud of our reputation for excellence, attention to detail, and warm, personal hospitality. As we continue to grow and refine our operations, we are seeking a talented and hands-on Finance Manager to join our close-knit team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group General Manager and the board of directors, the Finance Manager will take responsibility for the financial management of the group, providing accurate reporting, commercial insight, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This is a flexible, part-time position (3–4 days per week), ideal for a finance professional seeking a varied role within a creative and high-quality hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations across all sites
  • In collaboration with our external accountants, prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, cash flow, and balance sheets
  • Work with the Group General Manager to build budgets and refine the forecasting processes
  • Monitor performance and provide actionable financial insights to support business growth
  • Ensure robust financial controls and compliance with accounting standards
  • Manage VAT returns, and statutory reporting
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
  • Support cost control and margin improvement initiatives across departments
  • Assist in evaluating new business opportunities and investments

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, hands-on approach:

  • AAT qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or senior finance role
  • Experience in hospitality, leisure, or multi-site businesses is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate numbers into insights
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently in a small, collaborative team
  • Positive, flexible, and solution-focused mindset
  • Enjoy building relationships with key stakeholders in a business, to fully understand the vital roles they play.
