Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)
Location: Birmingham
Pay Rate: £60 per hour
Contract Type: Locum / Temporary

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join a specialist drug and alcohol recovery service in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Independent Prescriber, Nurse Prescriber, or Pharmacist Prescriber with a strong background in substance misuse, addiction recovery, and harm reduction services.

This Substance Misuse Prescriber role offers a highly competitive £60 per hour rate and the opportunity to make a direct impact on individuals experiencing drug and alcohol dependency, supporting structured recovery pathways and evidence-based treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and effective prescribing within a substance misuse service, including opioid substitution therapy (OST)
  • Carry out comprehensive clinical assessments for individuals with drug and alcohol dependency
  • Develop, review, and adjust personalised treatment and recovery plans
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including recovery workers, nurses, and GPs
  • Monitor prescribing practice to ensure safe, evidence-based interventions and harm reduction
  • Support detoxification programmes, relapse prevention strategies, and long-term recovery goals
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with regulatory and organisational standards

Requirements:

  • Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) with an Independent Prescribing qualification
  • Registered with the NMC or GPhC, depending on professional background
  • Previous experience within substance misuse, addiction treatment, or drug and alcohol services
  • Strong understanding of opioid substitution therapy, detox protocols, and harm reduction approaches
  • Excellent clinical assessment and prescribing skills within community-based services
