Full job description

Silver Linings School is a small Independent Day School providing a creative, therapeutic and individualised approach to learning for children aged 5-11 years.

We specialise in providing a unique educational journey for children with complex needs due to encountering adverse childhood experiences utilising a therapeutic approach based on the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and PACE.

We are searching for a School cook to provide a healthy meals menu for children and staff on a daily basis. The successful candidate will join our dedicated team of staff and will provide catering for 30-40 people per day.

This role is due to start in September 2026 and is Term Time Only

Our school cook will:

  • Prepare meals: cook food in accordance with agreed recipes/methods.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals.
  • Adhere to current HACCP and food safety regulations & procedures.
  • Follow all hygiene requirements for the kitchen in line with food hygiene standards to maintain our 5 star rating.
  • Decant and/or serve food.
  • Use current management system to maintain food safety records.
  • Order/purchase consumables.
  • Refill and replace consumables.
  • Monitor and arrange orderly and secure storage of supplies.
  • Work safely around the kitchen equipment and monitor and deal with any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels, including kitchen materials.
  • Manage waste through correct product measurement.
  • Maintain personal knowledge by completing in-house training & by attending courses.
  • Always adhere to all company policies & procedures.
  • Attend meetings where required.

Hours: Part-time 9.30am - 1.30pm, Term Time Only

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.90-£13.60 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week
