Cook – Full-Time (38.5 Hours per Week)

Location: Ashfield Nursing Home
Hours: 38.5 hours per week – early morning to afternoon shifts
Contract: Permanent
Pay: £12.71 per hour

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join our kitchen team and help create a positive dining experience for those in our care.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who takes pride in preparing high-quality meals and understands the important role good food plays in residents' daily lives.

About the Role

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals that meet residents' individual dietary requirements and preferences. Working as part of a supportive kitchen team, you will help ensure the highest standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for residents, including breakfast, lunch and light evening meals.

  • Follow planned menus and dietary requirements, including modified, diabetic, soft and pureed diets.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared and presented to a high standard.

  • Maintain high levels of food hygiene and safety in accordance with company policies and legislation.

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food supplies and kitchen essentials.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.

  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas.

  • Report any equipment faults or maintenance concerns promptly.

  • Support special events, themed days and celebrations within the home.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in a cooking role, ideally within a care home, healthcare or catering environment.

  • Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.

  • A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred).

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • A reliable, flexible and positive approach to work.

  • A passion for preparing high-quality meals.

  • A genuine commitment to enhancing residents' dining experiences.
