About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced and passionate chefs for the following positions:

  • Sous Chef
  • Grill Chef
  • Tandoor Chef
  • Indian Cuisine Chef
  • Persian Cuisine Chef

  • Dessert Chef

Working as part of the CHOWK47 kitchen team, you will play a key role in preparing and presenting authentic Indian and Persian cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, hygiene, and presentation.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, support colleagues during busy service periods, and help deliver an exceptional dining experience for every guest.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in the Chef position applied for within a busy restaurant, hotel, or premium hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in authentic Indian cuisine.
  • Experience in Persian cuisine is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience relevant to your speciality, including:
  • Tandoor cooking
  • Charcoal grilling
  • Curry preparation
  • Dessert production
  • Section management
  • Multi-section kitchen operations
  • Excellent understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, seasoning, portion control, and food presentation.
  • Good knowledge of stock rotation, inventory management, food costing, and minimising waste.
  • Strong understanding of UK Food Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP, allergen legislation, COSHH, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a professional kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic Indian and Persian dishes to CHOWK47 standards.
  • Managing your designated kitchen section efficiently during preparation and service.
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK Food Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP, allergen legislation, COSHH, and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Preparing mise en place and ensuring your section is fully prepared before service.
  • Working collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and wider kitchen team to deliver smooth and efficient service.
  • Assisting with stock control, inventory management, stock rotation, and reducing food waste.
  • Monitoring food quality and reporting shortages or operational issues promptly.
  • Maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting maintenance issues where required.
  • Supporting menu development and contributing ideas for seasonal dishes and continuous improvement.
  • Training and supporting junior chefs and kitchen assistants where appropriate.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, safe, and efficient working environment at all times.
  • Upholding CHOWK47's values of quality, professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional hospitality.

Desirable Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications and experience would be an advantage:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Award in Food Safety & Hygiene for Catering
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Certification
  • Health & Safety in the Workplace Certification
  • Food Allergen Awareness Training
  • COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Awareness
  • Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or First Aid at Work (FAW) Certificate
  • Fire Safety Awareness Training
  • Manual Handling Awareness Training
  • NVQ/SVQ, City & Guilds, Professional Cookery, Hospitality, or an equivalent internationally recognised culinary qualification
  • Experience using kitchen management, stock control, inventory management, food ordering, or kitchen management systems
