Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head Chef or Sous Chef to lead our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring exceptional service in a dynamic hospitality environment. Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and service.
  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and quality control to meet company standards.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Develop menus in collaboration with management, incorporating innovative dishes and seasonal ingredients.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, including food safety protocols and hygiene practices.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment centred on continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Monitor kitchen operations during service hours to optimise productivity and minimise waste.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for new kitchen personnel as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment, ideally in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management.
  • Previous experience in menu development, food production, and serving is highly desirable.
  • Formal culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are preferred but not essential for highly experienced candidates.
