WE’RE HIRING: FULL-TIME EXPERIENCED INDIAN CHEF | JAGGI’S – ILFORD, LONDON

Jaggi’s is a busy pure vegetarian Indian restaurant based in Ilford, London, serving customers throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We are looking for an experienced FULL-TIME Indian Chef with at least 5+ years of professional kitchen experience to join our team.

This is a full-time position only. We are not looking for students or part-time applicants. Applicants must be available for full-time work.

Key Responsibilities

The successful chef will work across different sections of our kitchen and should be confident with:

  • Tandoor – naan, roti, kulcha and other tandoori items
  • Parathas & Indian Breakfast – stuffed parathas, chole bhature and other breakfast dishes
  • Indian Curries – paneer dishes, dals, chole, vegetable curries, gravies and sauces
  • Indian Snacks & Street Food – chaats and other fast-moving Indian snacks
  • Indo-Chinese – noodles, fried rice, Manchurian, chilli paneer and related dishes
  • South Indian Food – dosa, idli, vada, sambhar, chutneys and related dishes
  • Preparing vegetables, sauces, gravies, batters, doughs, chutneys and other ingredients
  • Following Jaggi’s recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
  • Maintaining consistent taste, quality and presentation
  • Managing your section efficiently during extremely busy breakfast, lunch and dinner services
  • Monitoring stock and informing the team when ingredients need replenishing
  • Correctly storing, labelling and rotating food
  • Minimising food waste and maintaining portion control
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures
  • Keeping workstations, equipment, fridges and preparation areas clean and organised
  • Assisting with deliveries, storage and stock organisation when required
  • Supporting other kitchen sections during busy periods
  • Working closely with chefs, kitchen assistants and front-of-house staff
  • Carrying out all other normal day-to-day duties expected of a professional chef in a busy commercial kitchen

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3+ years of professional Indian kitchen experience
  • Strong knowledge of North Indian/Punjabi cuisine
  • Strong experience with tandoor, parathas, curries and Indian snacks
  • Indo-Chinese and/or South Indian cooking experience is highly desirable
  • Able to work in an extremely busy, high-volume kitchen
  • Able to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure
  • Fast and efficient without compromising food quality
  • Strong preparation and time-management skills
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
  • Reliable, punctual and responsible
  • Excellent team player
  • Willing to support different sections of the kitchen
  • Takes pride in cleanliness, consistency and presentation
  • Able to follow recipes and instructions while also working independently
