Tandoor Chef – Pakistani / Indian Cuisine

Experience: Minimum 3 years in a professional tandoor kitchen preferred

Café Begum is looking for an experienced and skilled Tandoor Chef specialising in Pakistani and Indian cuisine to join our busy kitchen team in Manchester.

We are seeking a passionate, reliable and hardworking chef with extensive experience in traditional tandoor cooking, who can consistently deliver authentic flavours, excellent presentation and high-quality food.

The successful candidate must be confident working independently at a tandoor station while maintaining efficiency and consistency during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of traditional Pakistani and Indian tandoori dishes, including chicken tikka, lamb chops, seekh kebabs, malai tikka and mixed grills.
  • Prepare fresh naan, garlic naan, butter naan, tandoori roti and other traditional breads.
  • Prepare authentic marinades, spice blends and tandoori sauces.
  • Operate and maintain the tandoor oven safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, portion sizes, taste and presentation.
  • Manage food preparation, stock rotation and ingredient storage.
  • Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Minimise food wastage and control food costs.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Assist with developing and improving recipes and menu offerings.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Tandoor Chef in a Pakistani or Indian restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional tandoori cooking techniques, marinades and spices.
  • Excellent skills in preparing fresh naan and tandoori breads.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to maintain consistent food quality under pressure.
  • Reliable, punctual, professional and a strong team player.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
