Job Title – Assistant Store Manager

Department – Operations – Store

Location – Store-based (SKVP Outlet)

Reporting To – Restaurant Manager / Operations Manager / Director

Role Purpose

To lead the overall day-to-day operations of the restaurant, ensuring high standards of customer service, food quality, hygiene compliance, staff performance, and operational discipline. The Restaurant Manager is accountable for delivering store KPIs (sales, service speed, labour deployment, wastage control, training completion and audit readiness) and building a high-performing team that consistently delivers the SKVP brand experience.

Key Responsibilities

1) Store Leadership & Overall Accountability

  • Take full responsibility for smooth daily store operations, opening/closing compliance, and shift execution.
  • Ensure the restaurant consistently meets SKVP operational standards and brand expectations.
  • Drive a culture of service excellence, speed, hygiene compliance and teamwork.
  • Ensure all store SOPs, checklists, and compliance processes are implemented consistently.

2) Customer Experience & Service Standards

  • Ensure high-quality customer experience across all touchpoints (greeting, ordering, waiting time, cleanliness, complaint handling).
  • Handle escalated customer complaints professionally and ensure resolution.
  • Monitor service standards, queue management, and order accuracy daily.
  • Implement improvements based on customer feedback and operational observations.

3) People Management, Training & Performance

  • Manage floor teams across FOH and BOH through effective scheduling, training, supervision, and coaching.
  • Ensure correct staffing levels and effective labour deployment during busy periods.
  • Conduct onboarding processes and ensure training completion of new starters.
  • Manage probation reviews, performance improvement support, and behavioural standards.
  • Escalate discipline/performance matters in line with company process and support HR investigations where required.

4) Labour & Rota Management

  • Prepare and manage rotas ensuring:
  • correct staffing coverage
  • effective labour planning against trade patterns
  • compliance with working time rules and breaks
  • Manage labour productivity by ensuring teams are deployed efficiently.
  • Ensure shifts start and end as scheduled and control unnecessary overtime.

5) Food Quality, Hygiene & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations and internal hygiene/SOP requirements.
  • Ensure allergen and food safety controls are followed by all staff.
  • Monitor kitchen and FOH standards daily, including:
  • temperature checks
  • cleaning schedules
  • equipment hygiene
  • storage and FIFO rotation
  • Maintain audit readiness at all times (EHO readiness and internal audits).

6) Stock, Wastage & Cost Control

  • Ensure stock is ordered, received, checked, and stored correctly.
  • Monitor stock rotation (FIFO), date controls, and product freshness.
  • Drive wastage reduction through correct prep planning and portion control.
  • Support stock counts and inventory processes as per company requirements.
  • Identify shrinkage or irregularities and escalate immediately.

7) Cash Handling & Operational Controls

  • Ensure till controls and cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Monitor voids, discounts, refunds, and ensure correct authorisation controls.
  • Support cashing up / banking processes and reporting.
  • Ensure security and loss prevention measures are followed.

8) Store Standards & Maintenance

  • Maintain store presentation including cleanliness, layout discipline and customer-facing brand image.
  • Report and follow up on repairs and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure safe working environment and compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH.

9) Reporting & Communication

  • Provide daily/weekly updates to senior operations management (Flagship/Cluster/Area).
  • Ensure key incidents are reported immediately (H&S, hygiene, staff, customer escalation).
  • Participate in operations meetings and implement action points at store level.

Experience / Qualifications

· Experience in QSR / restaurant / hospitality environment essential

· Prior supervisory experience (Floor Manager / Shift Manager / Senior Supervisor) preferred

· Strong understanding of customer service, operational controls and compliance

· Confident handling escalations and decision-making during service

Working Conditions

  • · Proven experience in QSR / restaurant operations essential
  • · Previous Store Manager / Restaurant Manager / Assistant Manager experience preferred
  • · Strong understanding of food hygiene and allergen control requirements
  • · Competent with POS/till operations and operational reporting
