CHEF DE PARTIE

For the Chef Ready to Grow at the Very Highest Level

ABOUT OPHEEM

Aktar Islam’s Opheem a kitchen of serious ambition, rooted in the rich culinary heritage of the Indian subcontinent and expressed through the discipline and precision of modern culinary technique, holding two Michelin stars since the guide of 2024. Located in Birmingham's city centre, Opheem has built a reputation as one of the defining restaurants of its generation.

We are a team that takes craft seriously. We invest in our people, challenge them daily, and celebrate the kind of quiet excellence that accumulates over years of dedicated work. If you have earned your skills and are hungry to deepen them, Opheem is the right environment.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a skilled and assured Chef de Partie to take ownership of a section within our kitchen and perform to the highest standards, day in, day out. This is a role for a chef who knows their craft with a solid foundation and is now ready to bring that expertise to a different environment.

You will not simply be executing a brief: you will be an active participant in the life of the restaurant and guest experience. We want chefs who observe, absorb, ask questions and can adapt quickly. A chef who sees each service not just as a task to complete but as an opportunity to learn something new and to raise their own standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Take full ownership of your designated section, ensuring consistent preparation and presentation to Michelin specification.

· Maintain exemplary standards of mise en place, organisation, and cleanliness throughout every shift.

· Work closely with the senior brigade to execute the menu with precision, timing and care.

· Contribute to the development of your section through attention to detail, initiative and a genuine desire to improve.

· Support and guide commis chefs within your section, sharing knowledge and setting a strong professional example.

· Adhere strictly to all food safety, allergen, and hygiene requirements.

· Communicate clearly and constructively within the team, maintaining the composure and focus expected at this level.

· Embrace feedback as a tool for growth and approach every service with renewed intention.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who brings both ability and attitude. The technical foundation is important — but so is the mindset. The best applicants will recognise themselves in the following:

· Solid, demonstrable experience as a Chef de Partie in a quality kitchen. Ideally with exposure to Michelin-starred or fine dining environments.

· A strong command of classical technique and the confidence to apply it under pressure.

· Maturity in the kitchen: the ability to hold your section, manage your time, and stay composed when service demands it.

· A genuine enthusiasm for development.

· Professionalism, reliability, respect for colleagues, guests, and the craft.

· An enquiring mind: a curiosity about food, flavour, and technique that extends beyond your current section.

· Full right to work in the United Kingdom.

We do not require perfection — we require commitment. If you have the skills and the appetite to use this role as a genuine step forward in your career, we want to hear from you.

WHAT WE OFFER

Opheem offers more than a position — it offers a genuine education. In joining our team, you can expect:

· A competitive salary reflecting your experience and the level of this establishment.

· 4 day service week with 2 lunches and an extra half day for mis en place

· Direct mentorship from Aktar Islam and our senior culinary team. People who are invested in your progression.

· Daily exposure to the thinking, techniques, and ingredients that define a two-starred kitchen.

· A structured environment with clear scope for advancement as your abilities develop.

· Staff meals, uniform, and access to industry events.

· A kitchen culture that is demanding, supportive, and built on mutual respect.
