Full job description

Hourly salary: Up to £16 per hour including Service Charge

Recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 for the second year in a row and recently recognised as one of CODE's Happiest Places to work 2026, Kricket is a collection of modern Indian restaurants that combine British ingredients with the flavours and aromas of India. Having started life in a 20-seater shipping container at Pop Brixton, Kricket now operates permanent locations in Brixton, Shoreditch and Soho alongside our award-winning bar concept, SOMA. The group is looking to grow further in London and internationally.

Nestled under the railway on Canary Wharf’s North Dock, just under the DLR, Kricket Canary Wharf features 85 seats and an adjoining SOMA 2.0 bar, reflecting the minimalist, award-winning design of our original Soho bar.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Sous Chef to join the Canary Wharf team! Someone who can run any section of the kitchen with ease and confidence, and help lead the brigade through a busy service. You will be responsible for delivering consistently exceptional food, upholding our standards on every plate, and supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. The perfect candidate brings prior knowledge, a calm head under pressure, and bundles of energy- helping to develop the wider kitchen team and keep everything running smoothly.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • An experienced chef who is confident taking ownership of any section and stepping up in the Head Chef's absence.
  • A natural leader who supports, mentors, and gets the best out of junior members of the team.
  • A team player who is collaborative, calm, and dependable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Someone with a genuine passion for food, produce, and getting the details right every time.
  • A strong understanding of kitchen standards- food safety, allergens, prep, and consistency.
  • Someone who understands our brand, team culture, and, most of all, our customers.
  • Indian cooking experience is a plus.

WHAT WE OFFER

Reward Yourself

  • 50% off the total bill, across the group at any time, any day, for you and up to 3 guests.
  • Cost price wine.
  • Extra day of holiday after two years with the company (capped at 35 days).
  • Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day off.
  • Up to 30% off at our sister restaurant, Lina Stores.
  • Employee referral scheme up to £500.

Be Yourself

  • Membership to Hospitality Rewards, with 24/7 access to its Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for mental, emotional, and financial support alongside hundreds of discounts.
  • 24/7 access to online GP & Prescription service
  • Access to Level, which allows you to access a portion of your earned wages in real-time.
  • Loyalty rewards, including a 5-year anniversary dinner with the founders, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to India, and a 5-week paid sabbatical.
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity pay & Baby First Aid classes for new parents.
  • Free mortgage advice.

  • Personal development plans.
  • Regular training sessions (both internal and external).
  • WSET courses for relevant roles.
  • Regular supplier trips.
  • Regular management sessions with The GoodLife Coaching

We believe in a culture that promotes inclusivity and respect - everyone is welcome.
