Full job description

We are looking for an experienced Tandoor Chef to join our kitchen team at Islington Townhouse, a busy pub and dining venue in the heart of Islington.

We are developing an exciting new Indian food offering alongside British pub favourites and are looking for a skilled chef who can take ownership of the tandoor section and consistently produce high-quality food.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

* Operating and managing the tandoor section

* Preparing chicken tikka, kebabs, tandoori dishes, naan and other breads

* Preparing marinades and maintaining consistent recipes

* Ensuring excellent presentation and portion control

* Preparing food for busy lunch, dinner and weekend services

* Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards

* Managing stock, reducing waste and controlling food costs

* Working closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team

* Helping develop new Indian and Indian-fusion dishes

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

* Has strong previous experience as a Tandoor Chef

* Is confident operating a commercial tandoor independently

* Has excellent knowledge of Indian cooking, marinades, kebabs and breads

* Can work quickly and calmly during busy services

* Takes pride in presentation and consistency

* Understands food hygiene and kitchen safety

* Is reliable, organised and a strong team player

Experience in a busy Indian restaurant, gastropub or high-volume kitchen would be an advantage.
