Full job description

Who is Murphy:

Murphy is a leading international engineering and construction company. We specialise in a variety of sectors including transport and infrastructure, water & wastewater, energy and industry.


Key responsibilities:

  • Install, route and secure electrical power, control and instrumentation cabling in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Fabricate, install and maintain cable containment systems, including tray, ladder, trunking and conduit systems.
  • Perform glanding, termination and connection of power, control and instrumentation cables.
  • Conduct electrical testing, inspection and fault-finding activities to ensure system integrity and compliance.
  • Participate in the commissioning and start-up of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Commission and troubleshoot instrumentation, PLC-controlled systems and associated equipment.
  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across industrial facilities and company-operated sites.
  • Work safely within hazardous and controlled environments, including ATEX zoned areas.
  • Undertake electrical works across a variety of sectors, including Gas, Water, Wastewater, Renewable Energy and Industrial projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety regulations, quality standards and company procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualified Electrician with a recognised electrical trade qualification.
  • 1-3 years' post-apprenticeship experience (or recently qualified electricians with relevant industrial experience will also be considered).
  • Experience working within industrial, utilities, manufacturing, water/wastewater, gas, energy or renewable sectors is desirable.
  • Familiarity with electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
