Description
As an Associate Pricing Analyst, you will support the development, implementation and optimisation of pricing strategies for our motor insurance products. Working within the Retail Pricing team, you will analyse complex datasets, develop insights and contribute to predictive modelling activities that drive commercial performance and customer outcomes.
You'll work closely with Senior Analysts and key stakeholders across underwriting, finance and product teams to support data-driven decision-making, while helping to improve the accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of our pricing models and methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their analytical and technical skills within a collaborative and fast-paced pricing environment.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Prepare, cleanse and validate large datasets to support predictive modelling and retail pricing activities, ensuring data quality, accuracy and integrity.
- Analyse complex data to identify trends, risk factors and performance insights that influence motor insurance pricing decisions.
- Support the development, enhancement and optimisation of predictive pricing models, working closely with Senior Analysts to ensure robust and effective solutions.
- Assist with model testing, validation and performance monitoring, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending enhancements where appropriate.
- Take ownership of allocated analytical and modelling workstreams, delivering high-quality outputs from planning through to implementation and ongoing monitoring.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing clear and actionable insights to support commercial decision-making.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance, product and pricing teams to develop and evolve retail pricing strategies and optimisation frameworks.
- Produce high-quality reports, analysis and documentation, presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes and advancements in analytics, data science and pricing methodologies, applying new knowledge to improve outcomes.
- Proactively identify, manage and mitigate risks within day-to-day activities and responsibilities.
- Act with integrity and ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal governance requirements, always delivering fair customer outcomes.
What you'll need:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Experience using data analysis and statistical modelling tools such as Python, R, SAS or similar technologies.
- Good understanding of predictive modelling techniques and actuarial principles within a pricing or analytics environment.
- Experience working with large datasets, including data preparation, manipulation and analysis. Knowledge of SQL and Snowflake would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with pricing and modelling tools such as Radar and Emblem is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise information for a range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in analysis, modelling and reporting.
- Ability to produce clear, well-structured documentation and present findings confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with a commitment to keeping up to date with industry developments, emerging technologies and best practice in pricing and analytics.
