Loss Assessor / Loss Adjuster

West of London to South West England | Full-Time | Permanent | Home-Based / Field-Based

A well-established and highly regarded claims business is looking to appoint an experienced Loss Assessor / Loss Adjuster to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a property claims professional who enjoys managing claims from instruction through to settlement, while delivering a high standard of service and support to policyholders throughout the process. The role offers a strong level of autonomy, a home-based / field-based set-up and the backing of an experienced and supportive wider team.

The successful individual can be based anywhere West of London through to the South West of England, making this a strong opportunity for someone looking for a regional field-based role with flexibility and long-term potential.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for handling a portfolio of residential and commercial property claims, acting as a trusted point of contact for policyholders and guiding them through the claims process from first notification through to settlement.

The role will involve a mix of site visits, loss investigation, report writing, negotiation and stakeholder management, working closely with insurers, brokers, contractors and other relevant parties to ensure claims are progressed efficiently and fairly.

This is a role for someone who is confident working independently, managing their own diary and caseload, and providing a professional, empathetic and solutions-focused service throughout the claims journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage residential and commercial property claims from initial instruction through to settlement
  • Visit policyholders and loss locations to assess damage, investigate claims and gather the information needed to progress matters effectively
  • Prepare detailed reports, recommendations and supporting documentation following site visits and claim reviews
  • Liaise with policyholders, insurers, brokers, contractors and other stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of each claim
  • Negotiate fair and timely settlements, balancing customer outcomes with commercial and policy considerations
  • Manage your own workload and diary effectively, ensuring service standards, reporting requirements and turnaround times are met
  • Provide a calm, professional and supportive service to customers during what can often be a difficult claims process
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all work is handled in line with internal procedures and regulatory expectations

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Loss Assessor or Loss Adjuster, ideally within property claims
  • Experience handling residential and commercial property claims
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload independently and prioritise work effectively
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce clear and accurate reports
  • A professional and customer-focused approach, with the confidence to build trust and manage relationships effectively
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and effective when handling multiple live claims
  • A full UK driving licence
  • CILA and / or CII qualifications would be beneficial, although this is not essential for someone with the right level of experience

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000 – £70,000 basic salary, depending on experience
  • Bonus scheme
  • Company car
  • Mobile phone and laptop
  • Company pension
  • Ongoing professional development and support
  • Long-term career progression opportunities
  • Flexible home-based / field-based working
  • Additional company benefits

Location

Candidates can be based anywhere West of London through to the South West of England, with travel across the wider region as required.
