Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced A Level Teacher specialising in History and/or Politics (AQA/Edexcel) with a PGCE. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging lessons, foster critical thinking, and support students in achieving their academic goals. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to excellence in teaching, while also contributing to a vibrant learning environment that nurtures curiosity and intellectual growth.

Duties

  • Deliver compelling A Level lessons in History and/or Politics, ensuring curriculum is topical and linked to exam board specifications
  • Develop innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Mentor and support students through academic guidance, exam preparation, and personal development
  • Incorporate creative writing, journalism techniques, and proofing skills into lesson plans to enhance student engagement and literacy
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment design, and extracurricular activities related to history or politics
  • Provide tailored 1-1 teaching sessions for students requiring additional support with their chosen options within the course(s)
  • Excellent communication skills to foster strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Maintain data and track achievement of student progress, attendance, and assessments in compliance with College policies

Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching A Level History and/or Politics with a strong understanding of curriculum requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students and support their academic growth
  • Excellent communication skills for effective classroom management and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong organisational skills to plan lessons, assessments, and extracurricular activities efficiently
  • Experience in behavior management techniques that promote a respectful learning environment
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for inclusive teaching environments
  • Ability to incorporate creative writing, journalism, proofreading, and tutoring into lesson delivery
  • Familiarity with teaching subjects related to social sciences or humanities such as math or related disciplines is advantageous
  • Passion for inspiring students through energetic teaching methods that motivate lifelong learning
