  • Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on laboratory analysers
  • Validate and authorise results within your scope of competency under senior supervision

Quality & Compliance

  • Work in accordance with current SOPs, UKAS/ISO 15189 standards, and laboratory quality systems
  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance (IQA/EQA) programmes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with regulatory requirements
  • Report non-conformances, near misses, and any quality concerns promptly to senior staff

Team & Development

  • Collaborate closely with the Senior BMS team to support smooth daily operations
  • Engage actively in training, competency assessments, and CPD activities
  • Support the development of laboratory processes and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture

Requirements

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist (BMS)
  • Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent HCPC-approved qualification
  • Genuine passion for blood sciences and a strong desire to grow within a laboratory setting
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a methodical and structured approach to work
  • Good working knowledge of laboratory best practices and health & safety standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and clinical staff
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small, collaborative team
  • Highly organised and structured mind with strong critical thinking skills and ability to analyse outcomes scientifically
  • Strong understanding of laboratory best practices, QHSE systems, and regulatory frameworks (UKAS, ISO 15189, CPA)
  • Proficiency with LIMS platforms and MS Office (particularly Excel for data management and QC trending) and AI tools

Desirable
