The Role

Hawk-Eye provides medical video replay services at all Rugby fixtures across England. We are looking for a reliable and tech-savvy individual to join our team in Newcastle, to support our on-site operations at Newcastle Red Bulls’ home matches alongside another Hawk-Eye Match Day Technician.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of sports technology across major sporting events. You will be part of a dynamic team delivering world-class tech solutions, designed to make rugby safer, fairer and more engaging.

All fixtures take place on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, with the season running from September through to June. We will require you to be regularly available for Sale Sharks’ home fixtures during these periods.

We provide services across a wide number of local and global Rugby events, including domestic UK & European club competitions, international fixtures and major World Rugby events. As part of our wider rugby team, you may have the opportunity to work at these events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and setup of Hawk-Eye technology on Match Day, alongside a second Hawk-Eye Match Day Technician

  • Operation of Hawk-Eye medical video replay technology, supporting the Match Day Doctor and other medical staff in identifying and reviewing potential head injury incidents

  • Accurate logging and post-match clipping of medical events identified by matchday medical personnel

  • Liaise with our Rugby Remote Support team to ensure smooth setup and match operations

  • Conduct detailed pre-match checks of the system in accordance with standard procedures

  • Coordinate with on-site host broadcasters to integrate with our Hawk-Eye services

  • Monitoring hardware and software performance

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues alongside our Remote Support team using your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills

  • Taking full responsibility for our system on-site, representing Hawk-Eye with professionalism and confidence

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Technical background, comfortable with computer hardware and software

  • Ideally with or studying for a university degree in science, technology, engineering or relevant equivalent experience

  • Bright and enterprising with excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proactive, responsible attitude with the ability to work on your initiative

  • Strong team player with the ability to cooperate effectively alongside another on-site Hawk-Eye team member

  • Time management skills and the ability to work in a high-pressure, procedural, live broadcast environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and stakeholders

  • An interest in rugby and/or rugby analysis

  • Able to adapt to flexible working conditions with irregular working days, including weekends and longer days
