Volunteer / Intern Sports Photographer & Content Creator
Bishop’s Stortford FC Academy
Location: Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire
Role Type: Volunteer / Internship
Hours: Flexible / Part-Time – primarily around Academy training, fixtures and events
About the Opportunity
Bishop’s Stortford FC Academy is looking for an ambitious Sports Photographer, Journalist & Content Creator to join our Academy media team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a current university student, recent graduate or aspiring sports media professional looking to gain genuine experience working within a football environment and build a strong professional portfolio.
Rather than simply observing, you’ll have the opportunity to create real content that is used across the Academy’s digital channels.
You’ll work around players, coaches and staff, capturing the story of the Academy both on and off the pitch.
What You’ll Be Doing
Depending on your skills and interests, you’ll have opportunities to:
- Photograph Academy matches, training sessions and events
- Capture action, player, team and behind-the-scenes photography
- Edit and prepare photographs for social media
- Create engaging matchday and social media graphics
- Support the Academy’s Instagram and other social channels
- Produce matchday, results and player-focused content
- Help identify stories and content opportunities from around the Academy
- Write short-form sports journalism, match reports, interviews and features
- Help develop new ideas for growing the Academy’s digital presence
- Work alongside Academy staff and CRE8 Creative Industry Academy students on media projects
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need years of professional experience.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from university students, graduates or emerging creatives studying or interested in:
Photography Sports Journalism Media Graphic Design Digital Marketing Social Media Content Creation Sports Media
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about football and sports media
- Creative and full of ideas
- Comfortable using a camera or keen to develop their photography
- Familiar with Adobe, Canva or similar creative software
- Interested in social media and digital content
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Keen to build experience within the football industry
Having your own photography equipment would be beneficial, but we are happy to discuss equipment and support available.
What You’ll Gain
This role is designed to provide meaningful industry experience, particularly for someone looking to start a career in sports media.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Build a professional sports photography and media portfolio
- Have your work published across official Academy channels
- Gain hands-on experience inside a football Academy
- Develop photography, design, journalism and social media skills
- Work with players, coaches and creative professionals
- Build contacts and experience within football and education
- Receive references based on successful involvement
- Take ownership of real creative projects rather than simulated university briefs
There may also be opportunities to become involved in wider creative projects across CRE8 Creative Industry Academy and Bishop’s Stortford FC Academy.
Availability
The role can be flexible around university, employment and other commitments.
We’re particularly interested in someone who can regularly attend Academy fixtures and/or selected training days during the academic year.
Interested?
Send us your CV along with a link to your portfolio, Instagram, photography page or examples of any previous creative work.
If you’re at the beginning of your career and don’t yet have a large portfolio, we’d still love to hear from you. Tell us a little about yourself, what you’re studying and why you’d like to gain experience in football media.
