Main Job Purpose

To ensure the timely recruitment of UK based freelance interpreters, in accordance with business requirements and to an agreed quality standard.

Specific Tasks

  • Source and attract candidates who meet defined criteria to work as freelance interpreters across services
  • Ensure candidates entering the process have the appropriate combination of qualifications, experience, availability, and location
  • Conduct pre-screening, telephone interviews, language assessments, and compliance checks to assess candidate suitability, while acting as the main point of contact throughout the recruitment process via phone and email
  • Coordinate and support candidate language assessments, ensuring suitability and progression through the recruitment process
  • Support candidates through compliance processes, including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and onboarding documentation
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams (UK and international) to progress candidates through recruitment stages
  • Coordinate and support candidate onboarding and training requirements, ensuring successful progression to activation
  • Ensure all candidate data and progress is accurately recorded in internal systems (e.g. Workday, LLIP, and tracking tools)
  • Contribute to sourcing strategies, including building external networks, partnerships, and identifying new candidate pipelines
  • Support recruitment campaigns, events, and outreach activity to promote the LanguageLine brand
  • Manage shared administrative responsibilities, including inbox management, voicemail handling, and social media activity
  • Work within a targeted environment, contributing to monthly recruitment and activation goals
  • Produce and present weekly and monthly reports on recruitment activity and progress
  • Support additional ad-hoc duties as required by the department
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal data security policies at all times

Person Specification

The following range of experience, knowledge and skills are required:

  • GCSE/A-Levels (grades 9-4 or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Process-driven with strong attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Proactive and innovative approach
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Ability to build credibility with a freelance interpreter base
  • Confident telephone manner and interviewing skills
  • Good understanding of recruitment processes
  • Strong administrative skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to produce and present clear and accurate reports
  • Minimum 1 year experience in recruitment or an administrative role
