The Role

The MOLE Clinic is one of the UK’s leading specialist providers of skin cancer screening and mole removal, working with leading consultant dermatologists and plastic surgeons across an expanding national clinic network. Our mission is to reduce skin cancer mortality through early detection, and every nurse we hire plays a direct part in that.

You will conduct comprehensive full-body skin cancer screenings, assess and document lesions using dermoscopy, and work with our consultants to support patient pathways. Dermatology experience is not required. Strong clinical foundations, a sharp eye for detail and real intellectual curiosity are.

The Training Programme

Your employment begins with The MOLE Clinic’s Skin Cancer Screening Nurse Training Programme:

• Two weeks, Monday to Friday, at one of our London clinics, fully paid from day one, with travel and accommodation arranged for nurses joining from outside London
• Academic study, clinical theory, dermoscopy technique and supervised practice, with written and practical assessments throughout
• Successful completion is a condition of the role and of passing probation. You will not see patients independently before then

The content is demanding and the pace is quick. Nurses who thrive here tend to be the ones excited by that rather than reassured by it. We will talk you through the programme in full at interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-body mole checks, single mole checks and mole mapping using dermoscopy
• Identifying, documenting and escalating suspicious or atypical lesions in line with clinical protocols and NICE guidance
• Assessing risk factors and recommending the onward TMC diagnostic services your findings clinically indicate, including clinical imaging and consultant-led review
• Telephone follow-up on results and arranging consultations where specialist care is needed
• Accurate clinical documentation, clinical governance and CQC standards, and clinic and equipment checks
• Clear communication and reassurance for patients throughout their consultation

Performance is reviewed on the quality and accuracy of your clinical assessment and documentation, patient feedback, and your diagnostic and care delivery statistics. We will explain how this works at interview.

What We’re Looking For

Essential: active and unrestricted NMC registration; at least two years’ post-registration nursing experience in any specialty; strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail; demonstrable ability to learn and apply complex clinical or technical material, which we will explore at interview; a composed manner with anxious or vulnerable patients; commitment to completing the two-week London programme.

Desirable: experience in a screening, assessment or diagnostic role; experience of autonomous clinical assessment and decision-making; a background in dermatology, oncology or general practice; private healthcare experience.

Hours and Benefits

40 hours per week, including two Saturdays per month, worked across a rolling two-week pattern. Monday to Friday 8am–5pm or 10am–7pm, Saturdays 9am–4pm. We are closed on bank holidays. We will talk you through the pattern at interview. Some travel between clinics may be required.

Performance bonus paid monthly against clinical and diagnostic targets.
