General Practice Nurse

Strawberry Hill Medical Centre is an NHS General Practice Surgery covering the north half of Newbury, Berkshire. We have over 22,000 patients registered with us which makes us one of the largest Practices in Berkshire.

With a strong clinical team including 11 GP Partners, a nursing team of 5 and large administrative departments we strive to provide the best possible care to our patients, using the most appropriate member of staff for their problem or concern, at the right time.

We are seeking a experienced, compassionate and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly nursing team at Strawberry Hill Medical Centre. This role will be between 21 and 37.5 hours per week and rate of pay will depend on skills and experience within Primary Care.

Key responsibilities to include:

- Undertake patient consultations, including assessments and personalised care planning.

- Support long‑term condition management.

- Deliver immunisations, vaccinations, and opportunistic health promotion.

- Provide routine nursing care in line with NICE, NSF, and evidence-based guidelines.

- Treatment room duties including wound care/compression, ECG’s.

- Cervical Cytology.

- Support delivery of enhanced services and contribute to practice targets (including QOF).

- Maintain accurate SNOMED-coded clinical records.

- Champion safeguarding responsibilities.

- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.

Essential Requirements:

- Registered General Nurse with NMC Registration.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work on own initiative.

- Ability to demonstrate good teamwork and flexibility.

Desirable but not essential:

- Previous experience working within a Practice Environment.
