Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for delivering high-quality dishes that meet our restaurant’s standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills in a dynamic environment, contributing to an authentic dining experience for our guests.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes with precision and artistry
  • Ensure all food preparation complies with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory levels effectively
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to deliver exceptional service during busy periods
  • Assist in developing new sushi recipes and presentation styles
  • Adhere to restaurant policies regarding food handling, storage, and waste management
  • Serve dishes to guests when required, providing excellent customer service

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a recognised restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and meal presentation
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in a professional kitchen
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment, knife skills, and ingredient handling specific to Japanese cuisine
  • Experience in serving guests directly is advantageous but not essential
